French Alps 13
I took this image on a backpacking hike up to Lake Blanc. The tundra grasses and scrub were turning a brilliant red and orange color. What really amazed me though was the amount of glacier loss over the past several decades. The valley in this image was literally full of glacier just a short 40 years ago. At one glacier that we hiked into, they had it marked down the valley where the glacier was every 10 years for the past century. It's amazing how much the melting is speeding up in recent decades.
